​ In a bid to mitigate the negative effects of flooding in the lives of some residents living in the flood prone areas of the state, the Deputy Governor, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim met with the flood response committee to identify areas of concern and deliberate on solutions. Note that the committee is entrusted with the responsibility of making sure that the victims of flood are evacuated, protected and provided for     in their various camps.   Mr. Deputy Governor charged the team to be proactive, examined the level of preparedness and    mandated that quality food of home standards with    quality drugs be made available at the holding centres where the food victims will be camped. ​ Earlier today, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, accompanied by Dr Ernest Ezeajughi, the Chief of Staff, made a stop at strategic points in Awka to point out errors in waste management and make corrections. At the Eke Oyibo Market, & Adam & Eve Motors Park, Amawbia, Dr Ibezim expressed his dismay at the absence of a standard waste bin. While speaking to the executives at the market, he made this known and charged them to remedy the situation. At Crunchies restaurant, he assessed the waste disposal facilities available. On speaking to Ms. Victoria Nchekwa, the Head of Customer Service, she    gave a detailed account of the challenges faced by the staff with regards to waste management and disposal.
