MEMBERS OF AWBA OFEMILI COMMUNITY MEETS WITH THE ANAMBRA STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR ON BOUNDARY DISPUTE WITH IBITE OLO IN ENUGU STATE.
~ Commends the State government on the road infrastructural development and its intervention in interstate boundary dispute.

The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim on Wednesday 29th May, 2024 received members of the Awba Ofemili Community in Awka North Local government area of Anambra State.The meeting which was held at his office in Government House Awka had in attendance the Traditional Ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Ezekwesili. E. Mmaduagwuna alongside other delegates.
In his remark, the traditional Ruler expressed gratitude to the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for coming to their aid after a long period of suffering a very deplorable access road to their community, Awba ofemili. He further stated that the difficulty they experience in accessing their community from other place is now a thing of the past.
According to Igwe Ezekwesili, "the journey to Awka the state capital which previously took the indigenes of Awba Ofemili 3 hours due to the deplorable state of the road, now takes them 20mins. All thanks to the Solution Government".
He went further to thank the Deputy Governor and his State Boundary Team for his quick intervention in the boundary dispute between Awba Ofemili and their Enugu State neighbor community, Ibite Olo. He also use the opportunity to appeal for the intervention of the State Government to secure the release of the 7 members of their community that are in detention in Enugu State since 2019 in connection to the onging boundary dispute.
In his response, The Deputy Governor of Anambra State who was represented by the SSA to the Governor on boundary matters, Hon. Ekenechukwu Okoye, made it known that the State Boundary Committee has been relentlessly working with the relevant authorities to ensure that the age long boundary between the two sister states is resolved as soon as possible, and assured the community of the commitment of the State Government in all their concerns.
A vote of thanks was given to the State Government on behalf of the people of Awba Ofemili community by Rev. Fr. Nwilo.
Other government officials in attendance are the SSA to Governor on Legal matters, Barr. C.C. Chukwudi, the Ag E.S State Boundary Committee, Olisa Mba Ph.D and the T.A to the Governor, Chioma Ugwuanyi.
