SOLUDO WADES IN ON BOUNDARY DISPUTE BETWEEN ABOANI-AWGBU, UMUENU-UMUAWULU AND ENUGWU-UMUAWULU.

    The Anambra State Boundary Committee under the distinguished Chairmanship of the State's Deputy Governor, Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim has again on Friday 16th February, 2024 met with the Leadership and Stakeholders of Aboani-Awgbu, Umuenu-Umuawulu and Enugwu-Umuawulu communities. 

   Recall that the State Boundary Committee had earlier met with the aggrieved communities to intervene on the Land dispute which has lingered for over 90 years. In view of series of judgments which dated as far back as 1927, the  Aboani-Awgbu(in Orumba North), Umuenu-Umuawulu and Enugwu-Umuawulu (Both in Awka south) are seeking the intervention of the State Boundary Committee for implementation of the Judgements and installation of official demarcation monuments along the boundary lines of the concerned communities.

In his opening remark,the Senior Special Assistant the Governor on Boundary matters, Hon. EkeneChukwu Okoye called on everyone present to eschew dishonesty and uphold the virtues of sincerity and transparency as the it is the shortest route to resolving community boundary disputes.

   In his address, The Deputy Governor, Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim reaffirmed the administration's committement to ensure Peace and orderliness in Anambra.

    Dr. Ibezim pointed out that community boundary lines in Anambra State has been categorized into 3 groups; 
Group A - those boundary lines where there are serious disputes with even presence of court cases.
Group B- those boundary line were the communities in questions may have either gotten judgments and are amenable to solution or will to adopt consensus resolution.
Group C - those boundary lines with no disputes at all.

He also made it clear that The State Boundary Committee remains the agency empowered by the law to handle community boundary disputes in Anambra and to represent the state in any inter state boundary dispute at the National Boundary Commission.

He implored the communities in question to pursue peace by all means and shawn violence, noting that meaningful and sustainable development can only thrive in a situation of peace and harmony.

 He concluded by urging them to tender the necessary documents and or instruments to support there various arguments to the committee for review as it will aid speedy resolution of the issues at hand.

 Present during the meeting include;Ms Chioma Miriam - SA Admin, Mr Nonso Nwa chuKwu - Admin officer Boundary committee 
Mr Jude Okoye  - Executive Chair boundary committee, PG's of the three communities present as well other stakeholders concerned.
