THE NATIONAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION HOLDS JOINT MEETING OF OFFICIALS FROM ANAMBRA/ENUGU BOUNDARY, AS BOTH STATES AGREE ON HOME-GROWN SOLUTION.

The Age long boundary dispute between Anambra and Enugu state received firm hope of final resolution at the end of the Joint Meeting of Officials held on the 24th January, 2024 at the Gurara Hall, Rock view Classic Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja. 


   In light of which the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his counterpart Peter Mba of Enugu State will see the end of boundary dispute between the neighboring states in no distant time.

The meeting which was ignited by the interface of the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim who is also the Chairman of Anambra State Boundary Committee with the leadership of National Boundary Commission had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Enugu State/Chairman Enugu State Boundary Committee, Barr. Emeka Ossai and the Director General National Boundary Commission, Surv. Adamu Adaji.

The high point of the meeting was the resolve by the two Sister-States to adopt a "Home- Grown Approach: The Anambra/Enugu model". This was mentioned in the remarks of the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as a panacea to resolving the lingering boundary dispute between the two states who were one state until the state creation of 1991.


 A communique was signed by the two states in respect of the resolutions of the meeting. Expedited action on implementation was also recommended by leaders of the delegation from the two states for official inter-state boundary delineation and installation of monuments along the 12 sectors of the boundary line between Anambra and Enugu states.  

  The implementation of the prescribed Home-grown resolution: the Anambra/Enugu model is expected to take effect immediately and reports to be submitted in March for ratification by the next Joint Meeting of Officials in April 2024.

SOLUDO HONOURED AS CHAMPIONS NEWSPAPER GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR ON INFRASTRUCTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT.
