The State boundary commission, headed by Dr OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor, began fresh moves to end permanently, the lingering boundary disputes between Allah, Onugwa and Odekpe autonomous clans all in Olumbanasa , Anambra West Local Government Area of the State.
The clans which are in a border town between Anambra and Kogi State have been embroiled in series of communal clashes as a result of the land dispute. The clans were led to the roundtable meeting by the President General of Orumbanasa, Prince Paul Uzor.
In his address, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim revealed that the National boundary Commission is aware of the disputes in Orumbanasa, insisting that the interest of Professor Soludo's government in the land dispute has always been to restore peace in the area, so that arable lands in the community can be useful to the farmers.
He said,
"As a responsible government, Soludo's administration has been doing all it can to make sure they live up to the expectations of saving lives and properties of Ndi Anambra irrespective of the location"
"Since the dispute began some years ago, I can affirm that this is a manageable community that will grow and prosper together if they allow peace and harmony to be sustained in their community"
Going further, Dr. Ibezim advised them,
"You all must as a people, learn to accommodate each other and allow peace to reign so that you can benefit from what the administration is putting in place to make Anambra clean, smart and secured"
He enumerated several community development initiatives put in place by Professor Charles Soludo government which they stand to not gain from due to the unrest surrounding the dispute.
Concluding, Dr Ibezim cautioned against the activities of groups known for lobbying for support from indigenes of Kogi state with dubious intentions. He added that the state government's decision to pursue peace instead of taking over the disputed land should not be mistaken as a sign of weakness. He assured that the National Boundary Committee will be duly informed and also, will be invited to survey the disputed land.
In a vote of thanks, the President General, Prince Paul Uzor thanked the Deputy Governor for what he described as a heart- melting speech, assuring him that they will implement Soludo's government template so that lasting peace will return to Orumbanasa.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Mr. Anthony Offor , Nwokedi Daniel, Mr.Ukoje Cyril and host of other persons.
