SOLUDO GOVERNMENT QUELLS DECADE-LONG CLASH BETWEEN OMOR AND ANAKU COMMUNITIES.

On Friday, 23rd June, 2023, representatives from the

Omor and Anaku communities appeared before the

State Boundary Committee for a hearing over the

boundary dispute that has bedevilled the communities

for decades. The hearing for the dispute began with

opening remarks by the SA, Boundary, Ekene Okoye.

He introduced all present:

Dr Onyeka Ibezim, Deputy Governor & Chairman, State

Boundary Committee

Hon. Bernard Udemezue, House of Assembly Member,

Ayamelum Constituency

Ifeyinwa Uzoka - Perm. Sec. to the Deputy Governor

C. C. Chukwudi - S.S.A Legal Deputy Governor's Office

Jude Okoli - Secretary, SBC

Olisaeloka Mbah - SBC

Richards - Assistant Surveyor, SBC

Chief Johnson Ifejika - Omor Town Union

Ananti Joseph - Representative, Omor

Atumanya Michael - Representative, Anaku

Hon. Ginika Samuel - Representative, Anaku

Nwobi Paul Onyebuchi - P.G, Anaku, amongst others.

Each community fielded two speakers to present their

case before the committee. During the deliberations,

speakers cited deception, a failure in leadership,

tampering with already existing boundaries and ritual

killings as issues that have escalated the dispute for so

long.

In his final remarks, Dr Ibezim reminded them that the

people of Ayamelum have a pride of place in the heart

of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor. Thus,

the meeting is an attempt to fulfil the Governor's

promise of fostering peace and development in the

state. He enumerated follow-up steps and adjourned

the hearing to a later date.
